BUILDING NEW RESIDENTIAL HOMES

In 2008 Kerry Vince Builders won two prestigious awards at the HIA / CSR Housing Awards for a home in Skyline Drive, Howrah.

CUSTOM BUILT HOME OVER $400,000
MOST INNOVATIVE USE OF STEEL

Situated on the heights of Howrah with panoramic views of Mt Wellington, the Derwent River and south along the Channel, the residence is an inspiring architecturally designed property with an interesting use of materials, including steel, inside and out.

The extensive use of glass and rammed earth with the natural flow of the roof line ensure the property compliments its beautiful surroundings.

Entrance via an imposing liquid copper plated front door into a spectacular myrtle floored hallway opens to spacious, restful living areas.

The design incorporates extensive use of zincalume to form interesting fascias and 12 unusual external wings. Internally the living area ceiling is supported by large cranked steel beams and brushed stainless steel have been employed throughout the house.

HOUSE OF THE YEAR
CUSTOM BUILT PROJECT OF THE YEAR
CUSTOM BUILT HOME OVER $400,000

The home is sited on top of Sugarloaf Hill and is unique in every way, with panoramic views to Frederick Henry Bay, Cremorne and Bruny Island.

The location posed a paradox; sited on a hill but with a very nautical outlook. The architect had chosen to respond with a nautically inspired series of sails that act as a dividing walls with glass infill between.

Every wall in the house bar two are curved, with some of the curved fins rising above and penetrating through the roof line, creating a stunning effect.

Although the house faces south, its environmentally friendly design, double glazed windows and insulating rated foam rendered design allows it to retain heat efficiently.
